Taking ecological responsibility is part of our corporate philosophy and actions. That is why we have been striving for several years to cover our daily energy requirements ourselves with renewable energy sources wherever possible. We succeeded in doing this again in 2017. As in previous years, our photovoltaic system generated far more energy on average over the year than was needed to produce all exhaust gas extraction systems and supply our office building.
However, our understanding of ecology does not only include generating environmentally friendly energy for our own use. We also see it as our duty to uncover energy weaknesses and eliminate them as far as possible. A few years ago, for example, we invested in a groundwater heat pump to heat our offices. In 2017, we were able to replace all traditional lighting elements in our offices with energy-efficient LED ceiling panels.
We will continue our efforts and take the opportunities we are given to make a sustainable contribution to climate protection and the energy transition.
