Our customer
La Société nationale des chemins de fer français (SNCF) is the French national railroad company, responsible for passenger and freight rail transport in France, as well as the maintenance of tracks and vehicles. Blaschke Umwelttechnik has been a partner for exhaust gas extraction solutions in numerous SNCF workshops since 2008.
Our task
In 2014, the SNCF introduced the first vehicles of a new vehicle type. The Regiolis is a new generation "bi-mode" train from the French manufacturer Alstom. The Régiolis multiple units are built with two different drive variants: as an electric multiple unit and as a dual-power multiple unit (electric and diesel-electric).
The modern train type is maintained in the SNCF technical centers in Toulouse, Granville and Mulhouse in newly built combined workshops. Blaschke Umwelttechnik was commissioned to develop and install an effective extraction system for hazardous DME pollutants for these combined maintenance workshops. The systems had to meet the following requirements: easy to operate - integration into the structural conditions without major architectural changes - built-in overhead cranes and fold-down overhead lines should continue to be usable in alternating operation - high safety standards in combined operation must be guaranteed. Together with SNCF, Blaschke Umwelttechnik designed a system variant during the planning phase that was optimally adapted to these requirements.
Our solution
In addition to customer-specific requirements, the legal requirements for precise, effective extraction are also met. In our reference example, our highly flexible RailCombi extraction system perfectly met all of our customer SNCF's high requirements. We developed this system especially for combined workshops in which both electric and diesel-electric vehicles are serviced.
We have taken strict safety standards into account for the operation of this combination extraction system, especially for the combined use of foldable overhead contact lines on two adjacent tracks in different operating modes. Our automatic overhead line safety device permanently monitors the end positions and parking positions of the collection units. If the overhead line is in operation, the system cannot be operated on this track. This ensures maximum safety for depot staff.
The RailCombi system is installed on a working platform between two tracks. Four, six or more platform units can be moved remotely to any point above the maintenance track. The capture hoods lower safely over great heights and settle precisely on the exhaust. The harmful diesel exhaust fumes are effectively extracted and cannot get into the hall air.
